Throughout the life of a vineyard, only a few vintages are suitable for the production of a Rioja Gran Reserva wine. These are magical harvests where the grapes evolve perfectly. We know they will be historic vintages, and because of the winemaker’s skills and experience, the wines become immortal.
Like a palette of colors, the ripe fruit and aromatic herbs paint this wine in rich colors, ripe peach, and strawberry jam. The wine shows hints of thyme from the clay soils and aromas of cocoa and vanilla. A painting where only the passage of time will reveal its great value.

Harvested by hand. Alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts in small stainless steel tanks, at a controlled temperature less than 25°C. Short maceration.
Malolactic fermentation in barrels and subsequent aging in French oak barrels, separated by variety.
Subsequent coupage, or blending, of the two varieties in American oak barrels for the last 6 months.
APPEARANCE: Intense, deep garnet color with slight hints of aging.
NOSE: Enormous aromatic complexity, very ripe red fruits wrapped by subtle toasted notes.
PALATE: Luscious, red fruit jam wrapped in hints of cocoa and vanilla due to barrel aging. Long finish with subtle and complex wood tones that let you savor the ripe fruit that floods the palate.
The growing season benefited from very favorable weather conditions. The Riojan vineyards were in very good health at the end of veraison, with expectations of a great harvest in terms of quantity and quality. However, the adverse weather conditions that came with the harvest only allowed it to be only partially completed.
The wines obtained show good structure, tannins and complexity, with an attractive fruitiness.
Almendros plot, planted in 1945, to Tempranillo. Trained in goblet in ferrous-clay soil, and at an altitude of 600 meters.
Entrematas plot, planted in 1941 to Garnacha Tinta on ferrous-clay soil, goblet training, and at 623 m in altitude.
