570 days in clay amphora to preserve the fruit and the expression of the terroir, and 210 days in bottle.
We suggest a flavorful quail stew accompanied by tender pochas beans from the garden. Paired with a Garnacha wine, it would rival the delights of the finest restaurant.
APPEARANCE: Bright ruby red color with medium depth, showing violet hues on the rim that indicate youth and freshness. Its appearance is clean, with fine, fluid legs that confirm its light body. At first glance, it already suggests the subtlety and transparency of its unadorned winemaking.
AROMA: A very pure and expressive nose of medium intensity, dominated by fresh red fruits: cherry, raspberry, and redcurrant. Delicate floral notes appear (violet, dried petals), along with a mineral, almost earthy background reminiscent of clay and the Alto Najerilla landscape.
PALATE: Juicy, fluid, and elegant on the palate. Silky, polished tannins with a refreshing acidity that invites another sip. Light-bodied and not aiming for power, it stands out for its balance, fruit purity, and ethereal character. This is a stripped-down, delicate, and straightforward Garnacha—not seeking to impress with intensity, but to move with subtlety.
The 2022 vintage was deeply shaped by exceptionally dry and warm weather, with scarce rainfall and high temperatures that persisted well into August.
Garnacha Tinaja comes from 15 old vineyards planted between 1940 and 1960, bush-trained and dry-farmed on the slopes of Alto Najerilla, in Badarán (Rioja Alta). These deep-rooted vines grow in clay-ferrous soils, low in organic matter but rich in minerals, which lend character and depth to the wine.
The climate in the area is continental with Atlantic influence, marked by cold winters, moderately warm summers, and significant temperature variation between day and night during the ripening cycle. This combination encourages slow, balanced ripening while preserving the grape’s natural freshness and acidity.
